Jiwon Kwon is a composer who graduated top of the class from Sunhwa Arts Middle and High Schools and from the Department of Composition at Seoul National University College of Music, and completed a Diplom in composition and the Konzertexamen with highest distinction at the Saarbrücken University of Music in Germany

Kwon has composed the original operas Heo Nanseolheon (on the Joseon-era poet) and Jeongjo (King Jeongjo), and has presented works in Korea, Germany, the US, Switzerland, Italy and elsewhere. Kwon is currently Professor of Composition in the Department of Art & Technology at the University of Suwon College of Music

  • Main Prize at the 11th Korean Creative Music Festival (Butterfly Effect); Chosun Ilbo Debut Concert; work selected for the 2013 Symphony Festival (Entropy for Orchestra); ISCM Young Composer Award
